Creative Process

"I follow my own vision and hope it resonates. My goal is to open people’s eyes and, as an artist, reflect the mood of society. One thing is clear: as the world grows more constrained, the need for free thinkers becomes greater." - Børsen, 2017

“For me, failing is one of the most important tasks in life, and yet, failing doesn’t really exist. What fails—when something fails—is our awareness, and by failing, we learn awareness. It’s the same when we talk through darkness or pain; we can experience pain, but the most intense pain is the one we don’t understand. As soon as we understand, we can cope with pain and it transforms into sorrow. Sorrow is love in absence. The pain that we suffer through life is when we don’t see patterns or when we don’t accept them. This resistance against loss is what gives us pain.” - Mousse Magazine, 2017

Inner-technology

“I am fascinated by everything that is not visible to the eye.” - Caviar magazine, 2023

"We are witnessing a transformation from a mechanically dynamic world to one energized by the brain." - Heartbeats, 2021

“It’s time now, in this era, to understand how powerful we are as human beings. The Lightning Rod is a metaphor on our human elegance.” - Frieze, 2024

"Everything vibrates, everything moves. Colors vibrate, thoughts vibrate, people vibrate. At its core, an image is simply a composition of different vibrations that also have a sound. I am interested in incorporating this dimension into the creation of images. It adds a poetry and abstraction to my work, making it necessary to set aside rational understanding in order to experience the pieces more intuitively, with the senses." - Bo Bedre, 2017

Darkness / Lightness

“The movement of darkness is transformative. It gives room for creativity and possibilities and its influence human existence, in both strengthening and challenging ways.” - The Forumist, 2017

“Darkness is about pre-creation and transformation. As humans, we are light, but we are also darkness, and many of us have been neglecting this part of us for thousands of years. The exhibition influenza is a reminder of our relationship with this unlit space, but also an encouragement to re-engage with it, with curiosity and courage, instead of fear and anxiety. It’s all about a radical acceptance of the darkness.” - The Forumist, 2017

"I had several 'death-like' experiences, moments on the edge between life and death. Yet, I always found my way back."

Public Art

"When creating works for public spaces, I am mindful of the function they serve, as many people will interact with them. I dedicate a lot of time to engaging with the users to understand their vision and explore the possibilities." - Art Matter, 2020

"When art integrates into society, it creates an external intervention. Everyone comes into contact with the work. Whether consciously or unconsciously, people's thoughts are drawn to it. In this way, art has the power to momentarily shift the direction of our thinking." - Art Matter, 2020

57th Venice Biennale

“The whole pavilion, as we conceived of it, is an absence of form. Or rather, the form has a more fluid character than just a physical artwork. Everything was dissolving as we approached the project, dissolving the forms of the conventional set-up of a pavilion. Also between curators and artist.” - Mousse Magazine, 2017

"People really, really hated it, like very passionately... They walked in expecting to be entertained but were left with their own restlessness or frustration. To me that was the theatre. In a way I succeeded but it was definitely not perceived the way I intended... The whole world just turned their back on me and I thought, ok I am totally free; I can do what I want… The minute you experience this deflation or impotence you have the full capacity to regain your own freedom and authenticity" - Ark Journal, 2021

Home and Studio

“Since I came home, I can see a greater calm in my works. Even in January, I see the beauty in the brown muck. I can feel the trees gathering juice and sense that nature is getting ready. In the darkest time, there is the most growth, just like the theme of my biennale exhibition. In the same way, summer is the dullest time of the year for me. I enjoy the warmth and the little dresses, but there’s not much inspiration." - Børsen, 2017

"The house we live in is an old, eccentric, look-at-me house, a bit balcony-like. The space where I wanted to work had to be a bit closer to who I am. Which is also about being introvert and turning my back. This is, on many levels, an experimental world. Down there in the house the world is more anchored. The roots run deeper. Things are heavier. The shadows are stronger, more abruptly defined. I use those different spatial aspects a lot.“ - Rum, 2023

“For viewing purposes, we have built platforms in the atelier, so we can observe the artworks in production from various angles. Every time you look from a new angel, you see something different. I use this actively in my process.” - Vipp.com, 2024

"The external art world doesn't exist here, you can pick your surroundings, there's no neurotic art participants, just trees and fields, yours is the only neurosis you have to deal with. It's easier to fine-tune the energy… When I look out the window it's really just sky and earth and for me it's new beginnings." - Ark Journal, 2021

"Sometimes, you have to venture out in life, while other times, you need to return. It’s all about the rhythms. - Børsen, 2017
